Welcome to Chapel Hill Day Nursery

Nestled within an acre of beautiful open countryside, Chapel Hill Day Nursery offers a truly unique setting for early years care. Housed in a charming former public house, our nursery provides a warm, spacious, and homely environment where children can thrive.

Conveniently located on the A38 in Newport, near Berkeley, we embrace a natural approach to learning. Our spaces are filled with wooden and open-ended resources that inspire creativity, exploration, and independent play.

We care for up to 72 children each day, from as young as 8 weeks to 4 years of age, offering a nurturing and relaxed atmosphere where every child is valued and supported.

Our Meals

Our onsite kitchen is fully equipped and run by our dedicated nursery chef, who prepares fresh, homemade and nutritious meals every day. We use locally sourced ingredients and operate a seasonal, 4-week rotating menu to ensure plenty of variety. Children enjoy breakfast, a healthy mid-morning snack, lunch and tea, all designed to support their growth and energy needs. Our kitchen opens directly into the under-two’s dining area, which also doubles as a fun, practical space for messy play and sensory activities.

Outdoors Learning & Play

At Chapel Hill Day Nursery, we believe the best learning often happens outdoors. Our extensive outdoor spaces give children the freedom to explore nature, build confidence, and discover the world around them. Whether they’re digging in the mud kitchen, hunting for bugs in our wooded area, or visiting our nursery ducks, outdoor play supports children’s physical, social, and creative development.

We encourage curiosity and hands-on learning in every season—because every puddle jumped and every leaf collected is a new adventure waiting to happen.

Our Forest School Leader, Catherine, runs weekly forest school sessions, while our nursery gardeners lead weekly gardening sessions in our kitchen garden. All children have the opportunity to grow and harvest fruit and vegetables, which are used in our children’s meals, as well as seasonal produce to take home and enjoy with their families.
